Can you replace just a few cracked tiles?

Yes — individual tiles can be cut out and replaced. The honest caveat is matching: if you have spare tiles from the original installation the match is exact; if the tile is discontinued, the closest available match is used and you’ll see it before it’s set.

My grout is cracked and discoloured. Re-grout or re-tile?

If the tiles themselves are sound and well bonded, re-grouting is usually the answer — old grout is raked out and new grout applied and sealed. If tiles are loose or hollow-sounding, the problem is underneath and the affected area needs more than new grout.

Can you tile over my existing backsplash tile?

Sometimes, for backsplashes, if the existing tile is sound and flat. For floors it usually creates height and adhesion problems at doorways — removing the old tile first is normally the right call, and you’ll be told which case yours is.

How long before I can use the shower or cook after tiling?
